Strict rules you have to follow on 2000-person 'spicy' nude cruise ship

This nude cruise ship has a ton of rules to follow

You’d think that being on a nude cruise would mean the sky was the limit.

After all, does anything sound less rule-oriented than sailing across the ocean in your birthday suit? But it turns out that this 2,000 person naked cruise has quite a few rules to follow.

One person who took a trip with Bare Necessities Tour and Travel took to Reddit to share his experiences.

The ship set sail from Tampa, Florida and allowed holidaymakers to lap up the sights in Mexico and Honduras.

Speaking of his experience on the $2,500 (£1,965) trip, the Redditor insisted that it wasn’t a ‘swingers cruise or a sex positive environment’.

That would surprise many people, who would associate nudity with sexuality. But onboard this ship, there were a few rules to bear in mind.

For a start, the captain would make an announcement 30 minutes after departure about when clothes could be taken off.

The same would happen when pulling into a port.

Although it wasn’t compulsory to flash the flesh, most people on the cruise chose to do so.

As you might expect, people had a lot of questions about the experience and piled into the post’s comments section.

One wrote: “Do you carry a towel everywhere you go? It seems rather gross to have multiple naked sweaty bodies sitting or laying on everything that everyone uses.”

The original poster responded: “Yes. One must only sit with a towel under one’s bare butt. There are clean towels all over the ship.”

That’s a relief.

But the most important rule of all?

No photography.

The Redditor admitted: “I was much less worried here than I have been at nude beaches. Almost no one had phones with them outside their cabin. There were many signs posted. There were a lot of staff from the charter company whose job it was to enforce good naturist etiquette.

“And I’ve spent time online researching nudism and I’ve never seen a single online photograph from the cruise except for the group shots that people voluntarily pose for. For those reasons, I wasn’t concerned.”

Admittedly, it would be hard to keep a phone on you at all times without any pant pockets to store them in.

It seems like nudity is all the rage these days, with dating shows following the naturist route too.

As if Naked Attraction wasn’t enough, we also have Dating Naked. Rylan Clark admitted that he got the awkwardness out of the way, by looking at contestants’ nether regions straight away.

He said: “I looked down and did the sweep, and they all started laughing. I started laughing, the crew started laughing and then that was it.”

We’re all naked underneath our clothes, right? It’s the great equaliser.

A man who went on a nude cruise explained the policy around sex on the boat

A bloke who went on a 2,000 person nude cruise has been answering questions about his experience.

The Bare Necessities Tour and Travel company has a cruise which sets sail from Tampa, Florida, and stops in Mexico and Honduras for an entertaining week on the high seas.

Only everyone who buys a ticket is starkers on board the boat, as the man on the cruise said the passengers were ‘a crowd with lots of nudist experience’.

They weren’t naked all the time, ports weren’t awaiting the arrival of a ship with 2,000 naked people ready to disembark for a day of letting it all hang out in a port city.

Apparently the crew would tell passengers about 30 minutes before docking that they had to put some clothes on, and the same went for heading back out to sea and shedding the layers once again.

It's about the freedom of baring all, not boning down.

However, if you think getting 2,000 naked people on board a boat is just an excuse to have a giant orgy then you’d be very much wrong, as the man explained the ‘awesome’ cruise was ‘not a swingers cruise or a sex positive environment’.

He wrote: “The cruise is very much non-sexual, so not in public.

“I don’t know what people do behind closed doors, just like I don’t know what people do behind closed doors at home.”

So either this 2,000 naked cruise wasn’t an excuse to have a giant sex boat, or the guy answering questions about it on Reddit wasn’t invited to the secret nautical orgies.

It’s probably the first option, as he then wrote that he thought there were ‘lifestyle cruises’ where that sort of thing does happen, but the cruise he took wasn’t anything like that.

Elsewhere he described the rules people had to stick to, including only sitting down once you’d laid out your towel to avoid 2,000 bare butts being squished against the cruise ship’s upholstery.

As well as wearing clothes in port, you have to wear them in the dining rooms and at the captain’s cocktail party, and while it doesn’t have to be fancy you can’t just show up to dinner in lingerie or a bathrobe.

He also made sure to note the golden rule on the cruise, no photography.

This is ‘good naturist etiquette’ and crew members had the responsibility of making sure it was followed, though fortunately this was a rule ‘everyone knew’.

If this sounds like it’d butter your parsnips the trip costs around $2,500 (£1,965) per person, but if you’d like to really push the boat out the most expensive cabin will cost you $33,155 (£26,021).
